Aims & scope
DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences is an open access peer-reviewed official journal of the Faculty of Pharmacy, published on behalf of Tehran University of Medical Sciences that encompasses all fields of the pharmaceutical sciences.
The word DARU is derived from the Persian name for drug and the journal aims to act as a platform for all areas of drug conception, design, manufacture, classification and assessment.
As an international journal, DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences considers outstanding studies from basic research to clinical investigations as original articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, general reviews, mini-reviews, short communications, and editorials from the global scientific community. Therefore, the journal welcomes submissions from all over the world.
DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences was first published by the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). Article published prior to 2012 are available via the TUMS website.
All articles published by DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication, without subscription charges or registration barriers. Further information about open access can be found here.
Authors of articles published in DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences are the copyright holders of their articles and have granted to any third party, in advance and in perpetuity, the right to use, reproduce or disseminate the article, according to the BioMed Central copyright and license agreement.
For authors who are US government employees or are prevented from being copyright holders for similar reasons, BioMed Central can accommodate non-standard copyright lines. Please contact us if further information is needed.
Open access publishing is not without costs. DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences therefore levies an article-processing charge of €600 for each article accepted for publication. If the submitting author's institution is a Member, the cost of the article-processing charge is covered by the membership, and no further charge is payable. In the case of authors whose institutions are Supporter Members, however, a discounted article-processing charge is payable by the author. We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, article-processing charge waivers or discounts are granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. Authors can request a waiver or discount during the submission process. For further details, see our article-processing charge page.
Note for Iran-based authors
For authors based in Iran there is a special mechanism for covering the article-processing charge. Iran-based authors should enter the code DARU01 during the article submission process. If this code is used, Iran-based authors do not pay an APC to the publisher; instead, TUMS arranges payments with the publisher and will invoice the APC, payable in Iranian Rials, to the authors.

Criteria for publication
DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences considers the following types of article:

Case reports reports of clinical cases that can be educational, describe a diagnostic or therapeutic dilemma, suggest an association, or present an important adverse reaction. These can also be used to present unexpected or unusual images of a disease. All case report articles should indicate that informed consent to publish the information was granted from the patients or their guardians.
Commentaries: short, focused and opinionated articles on any subject within the journal's scope. These articles are usually related to a contemporary issue, such as recent research findings.
Letters to the Editor: these can take the form of a substantial re-analysis of a previously published article, or a substantial response to such a re-analysis from the authors of the original publication, or an article that may not cover 'standard research' but that may be relevant to readers.
Review articles: comprehensive, authoritative descriptions of any subject within the scope of the journal. These articles are usually commissioned but submissions are also welcome.
Short communications brief reports of data from original research, usually about 1500 words.
